About Us

Our Mission

"The mission of the Gales Ferry Fire Company is to minimize the loss of life and the damage to property of all residents and visitors of the Town of Ledyard from the hazards of fire, medical emergencies, and hazardous conditions. Through professionalism and commitment to training, we will provide fire suppression, rescue, and fire prevention services. "

Operational Services
The Gales Ferry Fire Company is an all-hazards department that provides fire, rescue, hazardous materials response, and emergency medical services via a combination system of career and volunteer firefighters and EMS providers. Our career members work Monday-Friday from 0700-1600 when staffing levels are traditionally lower due to many volunteers being at work. We respond to an average of 700 emergency calls per year and operate (1) Ladder, (1) Engine, (1) Tanker, (1) Rescue, (1) Brush truck, and (1) zodiac marine unit.
